Aroma de Azucenas brings a San Juan flower seller’s story to Tampa Bay

Julián Garnik’s short film Aroma de Azucenas is scheduled to screen at the Tampa Bay Latin International Film Festival on September 16. The programme brings the Puerto Rican filmmaker’s portrait of street flower seller Saúl Dávila to the Creative Pinellas auditorium in Largo, Florida.

Dávila has sold azucena flowers in San Juan for more than half a century. The film follows a familiar figure whose daily work has become part of the city’s cultural life, connecting a modest street trade with memories shared across generations.

Creative Pinellas lists the short at nine minutes and 51 seconds. The September 16 programme begins with a reception at 4 p.m., followed by the first film segment at 5 p.m.; admission is free.
